Back in Black!

1- May 9, 2016 the day after Mother’s Day. We were able to see her and speak with her via Skype.

I Just Luh Y'all So Much
I loved seeing you all yesterday! I’m sorry the time was short and I couldn’t hear anything because of the connection. I was also overwhelmed because I haven’t seen you all in so long. Now that I’m normal and my emotions have calmed down I want to answer your questions. It sounded like you had a bunch. Also I’m going to be honest it is extremely hard for me to speak in English now... I can think it and understand it, but it’s awkward and hard for me to speak it.
I want to talk about two things; one, you asked what has been the most rewarding thing about being on a mission and I don’t feel like I answered it good. So I’m going to answer that question again. The most rewarding thing about being a missionary is helping others come unto Christ and watching their conversion to the Lord. Knowing that I was a part of helping them get to where they are is rewarding too. This gospel brings light to people and I get to see that first hand and it is the most rewarding thing ever. If you’re going through a tough spot in your life, that is ok because that’s a part of life. The most important thing is that there is something better waiting ahead. We need to put our trust in the Lord. He has a plan for all of us. Sometimes we have to go through things so that we’re ready to accept what’s coming.

And the other thing I want to talk about is the power of prayer. Padre celestial hears our prayers. I will share an experience about this....  so you all know I AM NOT a morning person. I was praying that I would be able to wake up in the morning and not be so tired because it is so hard!!! ... so one morning I was dreaming in Spanish ´tengo ganas a vomitar. voy a vomitar´ and I woke up and my stomach hurt so bad and I felt like I was gonna barf ( I have to barf. I’m gonna barf) so I jolted out of bed and ran to the bathroom... and after that I was awake... so needless to say my prayer was answered. There is power to our prayers. Be careful about what you pray for and don’t pray for vain things.

I’m so glad everything is working out with Texas. I’m not going to give a homecoming talk there. I will only do it in CL ♥☻ love you all and it was soo good to talk to you all.

Your homework is to study about prayer. Doesn’t matter where or what just as long as it is about prayer because prayer is important and amazing. God has 453416565056146541684086 other children, but he takes the time to talk to us and he WANTS to know about our day so tell him! He is always there! Always!

We Had Another Bautismo Here Saturday

This week we had a bautismo él tiene 9 años and he is super smart and awesome! When we were going over the interview questions for baptism his responses were so short and sweet and full of faith. Now I understand why Christ has asked us to be like little children. They don’t need to be patted and stroked to believe and have faith. They just believe. They have no doubts because their almas (souls) understand. Also, Satan doesn’t have authority to tempt them. So needless to say we need to be like that. Full of faith not needing to have 98425769580356 explanations and have things backed up with facts. His spirit, the day of his baptism, was so strong and he was so happy and excited. So was his mom. This gospel blesses families and people’s lives. I’ve seen it in so many people and families. His mom was inactive, but now she’s way active and her testimony is so unbelievably strong.

I also gave my first talk!

Love you all, until next week,
Hna Highfill

Speak yo lengua

Hello everybody.
This week was intense. It was cold, stressful, and full of super spiritual things. So I want to say, missionaries are the coolest people ever! They are like mini prophets for wherever they are serving. They receive revelation for people in their area and testify of Christ. So hang out with the missionaries because they are inspired people!! Also dads of a family can receive revelation for their family, so make sure you are spiritually ready for that. When we are baptized we are able to speak the language of the angels. When we receive revelation we translate that message so we can understand it! But we need to be careful because the power of Satan is REAL! He is trying his hardest to bring us all down and stop the progression of this church. Often times he gets into our thoughts and tries to tell us something different so we need to pray always!!!!! Pray that he cannot have our hearts. I also learned that if you receive revelation God will only tell you once so listen carefully and write it down! God loves us all and we are all fighting for the same team (hopefully?) God has a perfect plan, remember that. Satan doesn’t.
Haha, sorry so much talk about him, but that’s what my companion and I have been reading and learning about for a while now. And finally I know why!!! It’s because my rama (branch) here might be in a barrio (neighborhood)!!!! We’re so close to having a chapel here and the adversary is working VERY hard so that doesn’t happen. He too has a plan.... so pray that you don’t fall into his trap because we need you.
Love you so much remember, the Lord is always there for you ALWAYS and he’s even more with us when we need him most.

Until next week,
Hna Highfill

“6 Weeks In and I Finally Know How to Flush the Toilet”

This week was interesting and the way time works on a mission is weird. I feel like last week was an eternity ago, but at the same time I feel like it was just yesterday when I was sitting at the computer typing you all. How are you? Good, bad? Dying? I want to know!

I finished mateo! (Book of Matthew) woohoo! Idk, sorry I have writers block. So, God is amazing! He knows what is best for us and knows what we need when we need it. If He told us the things we were going to do we would probably look at him and say, “That’s a joke. I can’t do that... I could never...” He puts things in our path to help prepare us for what is to come.

This week we were talking with a member, Delia, and she said her sister was in the hospital. The next day my companion and I went to the hospital to check on her and make sure everything was ok. She did not look good. A nurse came into the room to take her temp and said something then started to ball and cried, “No, no, NO”. At this point I have no clue what is going on. Long story short, her organs stopped working, but her heart is fine. With this experience it makes me think about how we need all of our organs to be working. We need them all to be able to function. This is the same with the commandments. We need to be keeping all of the commandments not just some, not just the most important ones to receive all of the blessing that Padre Celestial (Heavenly Father) WANTS to bless us with. Hey, no one is perfect, but luckily we have Jesus, who died for us, so we can make a change and be better.

Here is your homework for the week:
Matthew 23:26, 27:34
Mark 2:5, 3:27
Then I also love this story:
Matthew 26:70, 72, 74, 75

Satan knows what we are capable of and he also knows Gods plan for us. He is going to do what he can to stop us from being happy and others to. He only needs us for a moment then after that moment, boom, He’s gone and we’re left here felling like garbage. So, don’t give into temptations!
